It makes sense, provided everyone is careful. If someone who is capable of moving out of the way can now legally move out of the way it means less waiting for those behind.

Technically its not legal yet. They are just moving to legalize it. Which is good news.

Its not legal or illegal , so its a grey area loophole and cops will generally let riders split as long as they do it safely.

My personal opinion on why anything is formally legalized is generally so police can write more tickets and generate revenue.
Matt’s probably scanning for any position upgrades at CNN. LinkedIn is probably better than Kinja©.

So really they’re making it officially legal while restricting it further than it was before...I see people split lanes at 70mph in LA regularly (including CHP).
